Girl Friday Breakfast Club with Tanya Palmer on 31st May 2019

On Friday 31 May 2019 our Girl Friday Breakfast Club guest speaker will be Tanya Palmer, acting Regional Secretary for Cymru/Wales Unison.

Public service and fighting for social justice and equalities have been cornerstones of Tanya’s career. Having qualified as a nurse in London in 1988, Tanya worked as a senior nurse in St Thomas’ and then in accident and emergency departments across South London. Tanya joined the civil service union PCS in 2001, working as an organiser and specialising in campaigns to support migrant workers. In 2011, she was appointed Regional Manager for Unison South West and Head of Health, continuing her work fighting for workers in the health service.

As an active campaigner, Tanya established Forest Unity in 2013, a community organisation committed to challenge the rise of UKIP. In 2019, Tanya was appointed acting Regional Secretary for Cymru/Wales Unison, a recognition of her expertise in supporting worker rights, social justice and equalities, where she represents 100,000 workers, most of them women. Tanya is proud to call herself a socialist and a feminist and a mother and grandmother!

The Girl Friday Breakfast Club was established by Kate Reynolds and Anita Taylor to provide a friendly and informal space for women to meet, chat, and to support each other. The ticket price includes breakfast at Miranda's. Please book your Girl Friday Breakfast here in advance, so we know how many to cater for! Miranda's delicious breakfast caters for gluten free and vegan friendly options.
